In Texas, home inspectors are only required to provide a very brief report on the condition of the home. And some realtors prefer inspectors who do this (the bare minimum), because the more problems an inspector finds with a home, the more likely it is for the buyer to get concerned and back out of the purchase. And at the end of the day, realtors are trying to get you to buy a house so they can get their commission (and there's nothing wrong with this, by the way. That's how realtors pay their bills.)

Home Inspectors SHOULD be indifferent about whether the house sells or not, because our sole duty is to ensure that YOU are not investing in a home with serious issues. Unfortunately, it's very common in our industry for inspectors to downplay their findings in order to keep the realtors happy (so that the realtors recommend them to future buyers.)
